Debuting at PAXbaby, the Olives and Applesauce structured carrier! O & A has been around for years, but now you can get all the comfort associated with a soft structured carrier along with the famous Olives & Applesauce style! The O&A carriers were originally designed as a mei tai but with buckles. As a buckle tai (as they are called), the carrier did not need the chest buckle, the extra clip that most soft structured carriers feature to keep the shoulder straps from sliding off.
You may be wondering, Won't the straps slide off my shoulders then? Our answer is Absolutely NOT! The shoulder straps of the Olives & Applesauce SSC are completely different than any other carrier you have seen because the straps are wide and flat, more like a mei tai and less like a football player. The shoulder straps can cross
your back easily so when you're doing a front carry you can have an X on your
back for maximum comfort. Once your baby is old enough for back
carries, re-buckle the shoulder straps as backpack style, and you can enjoy the straps curving and hugging your body without slipping! Sound fantastic? They are!
Our Olives and Applesauce Structured Carriers includes an internal
harness for your infant. The infant insert ensures your baby's safety
while putting on the carrier and also while wearing your O & A.
Being able to put your newborn or your toddler in the Olives &
Applesauce means that you can conveniently have just one and only
carrier for your child's entire babywearing career, from birth until
too old to be worn. (When is that? you might want to know... When
your child stops WANTING to be worn!!) Because the infant insert is
sewn in and not removable, you will want to slip your hand into the
carrier and make sure that it is smoothed flat against the inside of
the front panel and not bunched below your larger child. It is
however very adjustable, and you can continue using the insert for your
baby up to 30 pounds. This added safety seat means easy back carries
and peace of mind for the parent.
