While on maternity leave in 2013 Alyssa searched for her perfect carrier,
watching tons of PAXbaby instructional videos with her little baby sleeping
on her chest. He would only sleep on mama and mama had to bring him back to
work with her! With practice they came to love their wrap conversion ring
sling, (which Alyssa sewed herself), for trips to the store and their mei
tai was perfect for naps at work.
Burrow & Bloom is inspired by Alyssa’s son, her journey into motherhood,
and the desire to create and share whimsical toy slings & nursing necklaces
with fellow moms and their little ones.
When Alyssa found her safe-for-baby jewelry options limited, but still
wanted to express her style she began sewing her own nursing necklaces.
Figuring other moms would enjoy them, too she decided to shift the focus of
her Etsy shop from purses to teething necklaces! Thus Burrow & Bloom was
born!
From there, dolly slings just sort of happened!!
While sewing necklaces one afternoon, Alyssa’s little guy needed
something to play with, so she grabbed a couple rings, some wrap scrap and
made him his own little sling. When asked if he wanted to carry his baby,
just like mommy, he was absolutely elated and proudly carried his baby all
around the house!
