For as long as there have been babies, there has been babywearing.

No matter where you are from in the world, you are guaranteed to see a mother (or father, sibling, grandparent, friend) and a child together in this way.

Part of Angela’s portfolio, these beautiful images were taken by this amazing American woman, who lived, and traveled for many years around the world:

Unlike many of us, Angela had not been exposed to babywearing in America and first discovered it during her years spent living in Africa.  Even though she was not a mommy yet herself, what she observed from these African women, forever changed her life.

“It was almost tangible the connection that young kids had to their mothers, after being carried around the clock for the first two years of life. Watching those bonds develop, both through babywearing and breastfeeding (for nourishment, comfort, soothing, anytime!) absolutely shaped the mother that I would become nearly 10 years later. “

She arrived in Africa fully prepared to help others, unprepared at just how greatly Africa and the African people would change her.

Throughout her travels, time and time again, Angela would see how babywearing was not just a fashion statement or a trend but, a way of life.

This is what we were born to do.
Keeping our babies close, for survival, for bonding, for love.

A big THANK YOU to Angela for sharing her beautiful photos and her journey with us.
