Thank you, Anna, for the informative babywearing blog post highlighting the Beco Gemini‘s features and reminding babywearers why not to face forward for long!
    PAXbaby.com
Aidan and I love the Beco Gemini for newborns and small babies! Aidan especially loved this carrier because it allowed him to face the world in that exploring stage that babies hit between 3 and 5 months. This carrier was the ONLY way we had any peace while shopping, since Aidan hated carseats and insisted on seeing the world anytime he was awake.
    PAXbaby.com
The Beco Gemini is a great quality alternative to the Baby Bjorn. A quick look at Amazon reviews will tell you that while parents love the Bjorn for giving them their hands back, once baby gets bigger than 15 pounds or so the bjorn KILLS your back and shoulders because the weight is all in your shoulders and torso, never distributed across your hips. Many great carriers are designed to distribute the weight more comfortably but for babies that want to face the world the baby bjorn (and similarly designed carriers) is still the most popular option. Enter the Beco Gemini…Beco has designed a carrier that comfortably distributes a baby’s weight over the wearers’ hips and shoulders but still allows the baby to face the world if they are the curious type.*
    PAXbaby.com
Beco’s Gemini allows for the baby to face out  but in a way that is more supported for both the baby and the wearer. A handy snap system narrows the base so that little guys can face the world or have their legs out a bit earlier. Aidan also didn’t like things confining his legs when he got to be about 8 weeks old , but his little legs wouldn’t fit outside the wider bodies of many carriers. The narrower base would give him freedom to have his legs out a little earlier so he could kick as he wanted. This feature alone makes it one of my favorite ways to carry a small baby!
    PAXbaby.com
****Chiropractors and others warn against the damage carriers designed like the Bjorn can do to baby spines as well see: http://www.continuum-concept.org/reading/spinalStress.html Even if it did nothing to little spines, Front Facing Out for extended periods of time WILL overstimulate most babies. Please don’t do it for long… even in your Beco Gemini :)

It’s so hard to believe that the PAXdaddy and I have been babywearing parents for 8 1/2 years now – thank you, Baby #1, for being our baby carrier guinea pig – because we are both so natural and at ease with the babywearing situation these days!  You can see my husband regularly wearing our 2 youngest in SSCs (soft structured carriers), MTs (mei tais), and his favorite – Ring Slings!!!  We had to get in the groove pretty quickly of parenting while babywearing hands free as our family grew so fast!  First we had 3 under 2 years, then Baby #4 came along, and they were all still under 4….  5 under 6, well, you get the pattern!  Everyone has to start somewhere, and this sweet photo of the PAXdaddy, he is sporting our very first Ring Sling!  It’s a vintage, hand me down, colorgrown beige, Maya Wrap – used and abused for years before we got it, and just as snuggly and perfect as can be!!!!  Nestled in that sling is 7 days old Baby #4 with his admiring sister already learning how important it is to wear our babies to bond!!!  <3 you, PAXdaddy, and <3 our little BIG babywearing family!!!

    My babywearing “history” by Jessica

    PAXbaby.com

With my first two kids…I tried a Baby Bjorn…YUCK! Got rid of it. It hurt my back and was terribly uncomfortable, and I had a hard time adjusting it.  Then, my mother made a Maya Ring Sling from the pattern on their website. We had a time getting the rings with the right specifications/gauges and stuff. BUT, I really didn’t know how to wear it that well because it would KILL my shoulder. I still wore my first around all the time and I have pics of him in it, but I should’ve pulled the fabric over my shoulder and I didn’t, but I didn’t know.

    PAXbaby.com

Then with my second baby I used my Ring Sling and I got a Maya Pouch sling, LOVED it a lot better because it naturally draped over my shoulder a bit which relieved some of the shoulder pain. I have pics of her in the ring sling AND the pouch. Still wasn’t 100% satisfied with fit and extended wear but we made it work! :) I also tried a Solarveil RS but still wasn’t wearing them correctly so I sold it.

    PAXbaby.com

Then along comes Lincoln and I start cloth diapering, then I find Diaperswappers and see ALL these people talking about Ergos and Becos…so I posted a question (what feels like FOREVER ago) about ERGO or BECO??? And I got SOOOO many responses saying to get the Beco. So I started my search and found a baby carrier store (I have NO idea which one now) that let you fill out this cool little survey with your activities and preferences and what would be most important to you and at the end it gave recommendations of what carrier would suit you best, then one of the people there would contact you through email to give personal help. The website and team member recommended the BBII for me. I about stroked when I saw the price, so did my husband. So I got back on DS and found an AWESOME mama who sold me her used Beco Butterfly II Panthers (now my Pimped out Scooters) for $81. :) However, after hubby saw how happy I was with it and how much I use it and how much they go for resale he’s never questioned it since!!! And neither have I!!!

I still have my original Maya Wrap RS

THEN, I found PAXbaby! And yeesh how my little stash has expanded since then! Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much, Jillian, for all your tips and tricks, advice and helpful videos! I now I have Pimped BBII and a Pimped Gemini, a Cutie Cover, an Easycare Rainbow Ring Sling, Mai Pokettos, Strap Wraps, a Carry my Carrier bag, Mai Zoo….I’m obviously a fan of your delicious babywearing goodies, and I still have my original Maya Wrap RS! :) Thanks again for helping me in my babywearing journey!!!! I’m LOVING it!!!!

A hilarious babywearing timeline by Caitlin:

    March 2011- Babies R Us

    PAXbaby.com

We’re registering for our baby shower. My boyfriend walks by the carriers section. This is what follows:

    PAXbaby.com

Him: I want a baby backpack. Like The HangoverPicks up Moby, looks it over, and hands it to me. This is weird. How do people hold babies with fabric?
Me: I don’t know. It’s one of those hippie mom things. Put it back. What backpack do you want?
Him: Shrug. How about this Infantino one? It’s cheaper than those Bjorns.
    Me: Fine.
    Bar Code Gun: Beep.

    August 2011- The K Household

    PAXbaby.com

Me: There’s a woven wrap on sale for $90! Can I get it?
Him: Don’t you have a lot of carriers already?
Me: I have a ring sling and a mei tai but that’s for quicker trips and they’re a little harder with a newborn. And I have the Moby, which is great for now but I need a woven for when she’s older and heavier.
HimShrug. Get what you want. I’m still mad you threw my backpack in the dumpster.
    Me: Infantino stinks.

    PAXbaby.com

So what changed my tune in five short months?
    PAXbaby.com

I had my darling baby girl in early July. The first time we ran errands alone I was lost. The stroller bottom suddenly looked very, very small. Car seats aren’t safe on the top of carts and putting a giant bucket seat inside the cart doesn’t afford you very much room either. How was I supposed to shop? Then, while I was at BRU supposedly buying diapers with one of our gift cards, I picked up a Moby. I turned it over and read the directions. Too complicated. I put it back. I remembered we had the Infantino backpack but the size limit started at 8 lbs, and Baby K was a petite 6 lbs 11 oz at birth, and an even smaller 6.3 at discharge. At the time, she was well under the limit. I picked up the Moby again and concentrated on the directions. I’d seen people do it. I was college educated. I could fold some fabric and hold my baby. I put it back again. Wearing your baby was for crunchy mamas. I wanted to raise an independent baby, one that would walk and not demand to be carried everywhere, one that would fall asleep without be strapped to me. No, I’d have to find a different way then babywearing to shop. I didn’t want people to stare at me like I was a weirdo.

    PAXbaby.com

I went to the diaper aisle. They were out of our brand in the size box we buy, and the only option was the bigger box. That wasn’t an option because I didn’t have anywhere to put it. I was suffering from a bit of the baby blues, a bit of the insanity of parenting a baby with colic, and a bit of the punch drunk of not sleeping,  Now I couldn’t even provide diapers for my kid. I bought the Moby. People were already staring at me like a weirdo for sobbing next to the Pampers anyway.

    PAXbaby.com

I’ve never done drugs so I don’t really understand the concept of a gateway drug, but if it’s anything like a gateway carrier, then I completely get it. The minute I put Baby K into her wrap she quieted down and became almost pleasant. If anyone reading this has a baby with colic, you know how precious those quiet moments are. I wanted more of this, stat. In my frenzied babywearing research, I came across the PAXbaby website. It answered so many of the questions I had. I love the wrap but I wanted something a little quicker to learn with a bit less of a curve. I got my first ring sling. I didn’t care for it at first, but PAXbaby to the rescue with the backwards RS carry. I acquired a mei tai that both Baby K and I looooove. I got a woven (and then another one). I googled until I understood what my options were, and I wanted to try them all. I threw the Infantino in the dumpster, much to the chagrin of Mr. K.

    PAXbaby.com

Now, three months after the birth of my daughter, I actually have a good, safe babywearing stash built up. I did feel bad about throwing away Mr. K’s carrier, so I commissioned a custom BBII from PAXbaby and I’m convinced that will be his gateway carrier. Of course, I chose the fabric for myself, but he can totally share it. People don’t look at me strangely. They smile at me and my happy baby. They ask me questions. They wish they’d done it for their babies. Babywearing has had none of the ill effects I thought it would, and all of the positive effects I didn’t know it would. Call me crunchy, but Baby K has a seat, either in front or in back, until she stops wanting one.

    A babywearing testament by Vanessa!
    PAXbaby.com

When my son Lincoln was born I knew that I wanted to carry him in a carrier as long as I could. So being new to the babywearing world I went out and bought a hotsling. I loved it until he was 3 months old then it became too painful to have him in the sling and so I sadly stopped carring my son and he went back to the carseat  for our outings.
    PAXbaby.com

When I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter, Solei, I knew I wanted to try again so this time I choose a Moby wrap and that also worked until she was about 2 months old . Then I realized it wasn’t gonna work for chasing my son around. The Moby was good for breastfeeding, but it didn’t feel safe enough when I was chasing my 3 year old. So right before I went to Target to pick up a bjorn (YUCK) I decided to research some more because this time I was determined to wear my little one.   I found some blogs that mentioned PAXbaby for renting carriers. I was at first bummed that they didn’t have any Bjorns to rent then I started reading reviews and realized why the Bjorn wasn’t on Jillian’s website.  I loved how all the carriers were described with such detail, and  I  was so excited to be able to try out a carrier  to find the perfect one.

    PAXbaby.com

I rented the BECO Butterfly for 2 weeks and fell in LOVE !! Carrying 5 month old Solei and chasing Lincoln was a breeze !  I ordered the BECO butterfly and haven’t looked back I get lots of comments from strangers wondering what I am wearing and if it hurts . I love being able to tell them about the BECO! It truly is a shame that it isn’t carried by more mainstream department stores like Target and Babies R Us. I never would have known about this carrier if I hadn’t stumbled on Jillian’s website. Now I rave about my carrier and PAXbaby!!!  I want to share to the world how awesome it is to wear babies. Thank you, Jillian and BECO : )

    PAXbaby.com
PAXbaby babywearing blog funny babySometimes as a mom of small children, I just have to laugh at the antics that happen at my house!  Oh, how I would have loved to been a fly on the wall the time I slipped in a pile of baby poop while scrambling to get my naked ECing infant to the potty!  Needless to say, I threw out the furry slippers I had been wearing as I skidded out the door!

    PAXbaby.com

I truly believe that as parents of littlies, we laugh more and we allow our emotions to be closer to the surface than older parents or folks who haven’t had children!  Yes, that means our tempers are faster and we are more likely to shout (and feel badly later) but that also means that on a regular basis, we laugh until we cry, we hoot with giggles and even more when our kids ask us why, we HAVE to see the humor in the spilled milk, the forgotten shoes, the missing book!  Every day is an adventure, and with young kids, life is always a rollercoaster!  Live it, love it, savor the hilarious moments, and relish the tender ones, because our babies are growing up quickly, and this time of being an underslept, overworked, always loved, much needed parent will be over in a blink of your baby’s gorgeous eyes!  Hug your little one an extra time today, and spend a moment sniffing your baby’s yummy skin, noticing your littlie’s amazing ability to make you laugh, and salting each memory away for a time when you won’t have constant company in the bathroom or a sweaty paw always ready to hold yours!  Parents, these are the important moments, not the great seats at an On Ice production or the lavish gifts at Christmas – just the simple presence of your child in your life and you in theirs. (((hugs)))

Thanks to to the lovely Gina for providing me with a giggle or 2 or 3 toady!  Her pictures of her children are hysterically funny and priceless!  ENJOY!!!
