Babies R Us calls this contraption “the best baby carrier on the market” but we beg to differ!!!!  The Morph Harness by Mamas & Papas is the same price as a Beco Butterfly II which can carry babies from newborn through 45 pounds, has a hood, and can be worn on your back with bigger babies !  The Morph claims to carry children up to 33 pounds; can you imagine having a 33 pound toddler dangling off your shoulders in this thing?  Ouch!  BRUS may think this is the best carrier available, but personally I think it looks like baby bondage gear, and makes me cringe just to watch the instructional video!  A better name for this strappy thing than the Morph Harness might be the “Parachute Baby Carrier” or the “Ready for Combat Baby Carrier!”  What would you call it?

Thank Goodness It’s Friday

Even the best of mothers get to that point….  you know “that point?”

- when stomping your feet and yelling nonoonoo  actually seems like the logical reaction to dropping the last egg on the floor when you need it to make supper -

- when pointing your finger at your husband and saying “he made me do it” is the answer to any and all offenses -

- when doodling on the cat seems like a much better idea than folding the laundry -

You know “that point,” I know you do, because I know it too!

But when I get to that point, I stop for a minute

- stop praying for someone with more authority than myself to order me to a time out -

And think about my life…

my charmed life – full of chaos -

with 6 adorable children – louder than any other 6 children I know -

in a comfortable home – comfortable is the key word here -

and plenty of food to eat – albeit not the dinner I had planned -

and I remind myself of all the gifts that I have been given, blessings that I have earned, & that I can be part of a cultural tradition that knows no bounds…

Babywearing is fantastic for bonding with your newborn, we all know that, but when do I NEED a baby carrier the most with my infant?  When I need to keep my hands available to help my older kids!  Whether it’s with their school work (we homeschool!) or at the park or at a birthday party!!!!  PAXbaby #5 was invited to his first party just for him – no older siblings were invited!) so #6 tagged along in my Sakura Bloom Artisan ring sling!  I took a few semi-decent pix of us with my phone (stayed up all night the night before, yikes!) breastfeeding and using the ring sling tail as a nursing cover up (very handy!), but I thought you might enjoy seeing pictures of the entire adorable event!  Heather did a great job with the decorations, and Miss M had a wonderful party!!!  She even told her mama that her favorite part of her special day was “Kiki” aka PAXbaby #5!  Awwwwww!!!!
